Our greatest strength lies in design and synthesis of new molecules.
Molecules are materials involved in all natural phenomena and social life.
Why do they have such properties and functions?
Since molecules have defined structures, we can approach the truth of their properties and functions by investigating their chemical bonds, electronic states, and intermolecular interactions.
In addition, synthetic chemistry can build even complicated molecular structures, which is like a “craftsmanship” that can create dramatically changing molecular structures.
There is a science that can be developed by the synthesis of molecules.
Fascinated by these things, we have been engaged in synthetic chemistry of molecules.
The properties and functions of molecules can now be predicted very precisely by use of quantum chemical calculations, AI, and machine learning. On the other hand, in the pharmaceutical field, the development of small molecule drugs is on the decline. There are also some voices regarding unclear future of molecular science.
However, we believe it is important to
“create unexplored, high-difficult-to-construct molecules”
“efficiently create significant molecules”
“discover unknown functions and potential of molecules”.
We would like to design novel and unique molecules.
Additionally, by taking on challenges to make molecules that are difficult to create, we will produce researchers who are
“the unique synthetic chemists who can take on challenges”.
It is also necessary to carefully assess what kind of materials are necessary for the world.
It does not have to be a molecule or materials that is useful today.
However, It is important to design and deliver our molecules to the place where they will play an active role.
Finally, we would like to promote
“manufacturing beyond the ”value of conventional molecules”.
We would like to develop synthetic chemistry that will surprise the world.
Compared to molecules, materials with huge structures are still difficult to be handled even with current science and technology.
That is why wouldn’t it be crazy if we could create giant materials with interesting and valuable structures as like molecules? We would like to lead the next generation of science by establishing “molecular-driven synthetic chemistry of materials”.
